Do we need to bring a small water filtering system to Guatemala?

If you are going to be spending much time off the beaten path that could come in handy, but in the towns you will have no problem finding bottled water.

Is it safe to take children to Guatemala?

In my opinion, yes, and I think they will love it! I never felt in danger and a friend of mine just took her ten year old daughter and had a terrific trip. Bad things can happen anywhere; traveling provides a great opportunity to teach your children to be aware of their surroundings, even at home!
