Thailand' cultural and geographic diversity has drawn adventure travelers for decades and the country' well developed tourism infrastructure makes it an ideal "intro to Asia".
In the hills of Northern Thailand, Mark & Julie trek through the jungles on foot and on elephant back to meet the colorful ethnic tribes that make their home in the jungles of the Golden Triangle. After spending the night as house guests of the village "headman" they set out on bamboo rafts, poling their way downstream, for a true river adventure.
In Chiang Mai, Julie gets a lesson in Thai cooking, and Mark comes upon some agile locals playing a bizarre game with a bamboo ball.
TIPS for TRAVELERS to NORTHERN THAILAND
This is one of my favorite places - here is the best tip I can give you - get out of your comfort zone, challenge yourself and your family just a tad, and you will be rewarded with a travel experience that you will be talking about long after the trip is over.
