Another way to get into the heart of an italian mountain town

Springtime is ideal for biking and skiing in this breathtaking region of the Alps. Julie & Mark cycle through a village where artists have painted the history of the people on the ancient buildings and explore tunnels used by the Italian Army during World War I high above Cortina.

In Courmayeur, they board a helicopter to ski the distant peaks and meet the brave alpine guides who dedicate their lives to protecting skiers and hikers from the dangers of the Alps.

Mark & Julie stroll the cobbled streets of charming Italian villages and indulge in culinary specialties with the locals, always the highlight of an adventure in Italy!

TIPS for TRAVELERS to CORTINA & COURMAYEUR

There is plenty of great skiing in Europe, but if food is important to you, then Italy probably has a slight advantage - and of course there's always a nice glass of Chianti to go with every meal!

Skiing with a Guide isn't a bad idea

In this episode we'll explore the culture and lifestyle of Italian alpine villages and discover the historic castles of the Aosta Valley.

The Monte Bianco, Europe's highest peak, provides a stunning backdrop for helicopter skiing and an all day adventure through the Valle Blanche, a 13 mile ski run that ends across the border in Chamonix, France.

Meet the Alpine Mountain Guides who devote their lives to rescuing unlucky skiers and mountaineers from the treacherous crevasses, and get a taste of the hearty, traditional cuisine of the region.

TRIP TIPS

You will find plenty to entertain yourself when it comes to food and drink right in the village, but if you want to experience a real old fashioned mountain hut with typical cuisine try La Maison de Filippo in Entreves.

For an all day ski adventure, hire one of the excellent mountain guides at their office in the village and attack the Valle Blanche.

This 13 mile run will take you across the boarder into Chamonix France!
