Cycle Touring in Andalucia, SpainThe beauty of Spain's southernmost region unfolds on this two wheeled, wind-in-the-face adventure. Julie & Mark cycle through spectacular countryside by day and spend nights in Moorish palaces and luxurious haciendas.
In the golden city of Cordoba, they meet the passionate artists who have kept alive the gypsy rhythms of flamenco, then grab capes for a spin in bullfighter's shoes to experience the charge of these powerful creatures.
Mark & Julie get a taste of the region's history on majestic Andalusian horses and take an unusual safari through one of Europe's most important wetland wildlife reserves.
TIPS for TRAVELERS to ANDALUCIA, SPAINThe influence of the Moors, who once ruled this area, gives Andalucia an exotic flavor. Be sure to spend a few nights in the palaces that been converted to hotels. Many are a part of the Government owned chain called "Paradors". If you can afford to splurge, the "Hacienda Benazuza", just outside Sevilla, is one of the more spectacular, privately owned regal hotels of Spain.
We never bothered to visit the most famous part of the region, the glitzy "Costa Del Sol" - the Waikiki of Spain - but instead discovered the less developed stretch of beaches known as the "Costa de la Luz" on the Atlantic.
